M-Stickers wheel rim decals are easy to apply and faster than a traditional wheel rim kit, but it requires removing the motorcycle's wheels. The kit is unique for all 17-inch rims and not compatible with single-arm rear rims. Below is a tutorial to help you apply your M-Stickers Anneaux wheel rim kit to your motorcycle.
First of all, here are the precautions to take:
Verify that the rim must be smooth.
Clean thoroughly, degrease the rim with soapy water/alcohol. Do not use WD40 or other silicone-based products. The rim must be perfectly clean.
Do not handle decals on the adhesive side too much.
If decals are not applied immediately, store them flat in a dry, sun-protected area.
When applying, choose a part with a temperature of at least 15°C, protected from wind and dust. It's also possible to heat the rim before applying the stickers to ensure good adhesive hold. Too cold a temperature will not allow optimal sticker adhesion.
After application, avoid contact with cold and moisture to ensure good adhesive hold.
What you'll need:
Degreaser/Household alcohol A clean cloth Of your two wheel rims – A raclette (for sale here) Credit card also works. Powerful heat gun or hair dryer.
First step - Decal preparation:
To begin, repair the two wheel rim decals on the front wheel and those on the rear wheel. The wider ones are for the rear and the narrower ones for the front wheel. Before applying the first decal, position the wheel rim ring decals flat or under a heavy load to straighten them and allow them to take their shape.
2- Wheel Rim Cleaning:
Clean the wheel rims thoroughly with a degreasing agent/household alcohol before applying anything. Do not use silicone-based products like WD40. or other greasy substance such as polish, cream, etc. If in doubt after cleaning, pour water over the cleaned surface. If it beads up, your product isn't suitable. Vehicle decal adhesion depends mainly on proper prior cleaning.
Also removes one or both wheel rims to apply decals.
3- The application of the first wheel rim decal:
Your wheel rims and vehicle decals are ready! It's time to get serious!
First, gently remove the vehicle decal from its backing. Then, carefully position it around the wheel rim. Handle from the adhesive side, ensuring clean hands to avoid damaging the decal.
– Carefully remove the decal, being careful not to apply too much pressure around the rim strip. Do not press too hard so you can peel it off and reposition it if needed.
Once the decal is positioned correctly, you can press firmly all around to prevent it from moving.
Next, heat the decal completely by making circles over the top to make it pliable. Don't overheat it initiallyDid some tests from coolest to hottest to avoid damaging the vehicle decal, because once burned, it's ruined 🙁
Once heated, you will need to fold the decal inside the wheel rim with your fingers. Start by folding a few centimeters all around the rim.
- Then, reheat the decal that has cooled. As in the first operation, feel free to heat slightly more if the decal is not malleable enough. But be careful not to overheat it and damage it. You can then repeat the operation and fold the decal slightly further into the inside of the wheel rim. Always for a few centimeters.
Repeat this process until completely adhered to the wheel rim.
Repeat the operation
Once the vehicle decal is properly adhered, you just need to attach the other side and do the other wheel rims using the same method!
5- Finalization:
Allow 48-72 hours for maximum sticker adhesion, allowing the adhesive to bond with the surface.
With this type of application, it is possible to use the vehicle immediately after application.
You can heat the vinyl to consolidate the sticker's hold on the rim and to make them conform to curved shapes if needed.
Notes: Heating the decals with a heat gun or hair dryer will make them more pliable and eliminate small air bubbles. (Vinyl is not airtight; air naturally escapes over a few days in the sun.)
